Schools are taking steps to become technology advance, while some are already there.

Helping students learn how to work collaboratively and with project-base learning. While also helping with learning how to properly balance technology and life.
Lemon Grove School District:

The student-to-computer ratio is 1:2. Also within a five year rotation 20% of the teacher go through a training to keep up with how to implement technology into the classroom.
Classroom applications:
Blogs help with the writing process. They can journal or write about the book the class read. By posting these online they help communicate to the public. By allowing comments on the blog others can help with peer review. With the blog they will have a portfolio to go back and look through.
Wikis help with the collaboration process of writing, revising, and updating on a regular basis.
Podcasting helps the students with recording and being able to express themselves.
Digital storytelling [flickr] gets the students interest and maintains it.
The majority of this chapter tells you how certain schools in each area of learning uses the web 2.0 skills.
